On a fitness trip in Thailand: my experience!

Fitnessreis in Thailand

Since I have been living in Japan, I have enjoyed a lot of freedom and many opportunities to explore this special side of the world. During my search for inspiration, which often revolves around travel and sports, I discovered the concept of fitness travel. It immediately felt like it was made for me, and I knew: I have to try this! Not much later I was on a plane to Phuket to experience my first fitness trip. A perfect combination of adventure, health and relaxation! Read on quickly about my fitness trip in Thailand!

Why choose an organised fitness trip?

Because there was little information available and it was my first fitness trip, I decided to use a Dutch organisation to make everything a bit easier. Through the travel agency Fitnessreizen I booked my fitness holiday to the famous fitness street in Phuket. Because I did not really know what to expect, I chose to book only one week. I regretted that on the very first day! Curious why? Read on quickly and discover my personal experiences!

How to arrange your stay in the fitness street?

There are plenty of options for staying in the fitness street of Phuket. You can book accommodation yourself and then register at one of the many gyms. However, I chose a different approach and booked my trip through Fitnessreizen. This Dutch travel agency, specialised in fitness holidays to destinations such as Thailand, Mallorca, Tenerife, Cyprus and Croatia, put together a complete week for me. This package included unlimited sports at Titan Fitness Phuket including healthy meals and a stay just a stone’s throw away from the gym. Ideal for an active and carefree holiday. I opted for the Phuket Basic package and added a stay at Marina House for an additional cost of only €135. This simple hotel offers all the comfort you need, with air conditioning, a swimming pool, and an ideal location just a stone’s throw away from the fitness camp.

The first day at Titan Fitness Thailand

I arrived on a Sunday so I could start my week of exercise at Titan Fitness in Thailand on Monday morning. My adventure started with an InBody body scan so I could analyze my results by the end of the week. After that, I got an extensive tour of the premises.

Titan Fitness offers an indoor gym with multiple floors, where you can train independently or work on your goals together with a fitness coach. Diagonally across from the gym is the café, where you can get your daily healthy meals and where everyone gathers before the classes start.

My first class started at 10:00. During the training I immediately met new people. The nice thing about Titan Fitness is that most participants travel solo and all work on their own sporting goals. This creates a nice atmosphere and most visitors share the same mindset: focus, health and fun!

During the week there is an extensive schedule with classes all day long that you can participate in. The great thing about this experience is that you are completely free to make your own schedule—nothing is mandatory, everything is possible! Of course, the idea is that you challenge yourself a little to get the most out of your fitness journey.

The schedule and classes at Titan Fitness Phuket

During my week I participated in various classes including Body 360, cross training, yoga, the Big Buddha Run, spinning and Strength & Technique. In between classes you can enjoy protein shakes, and depending on the package you have booked, you can order your meals from the café to eat there. Sundays are a day of rest, and on this day all sports facilities are closed. But don’t worry, there are plenty of other fun activities to do in the area!

An important point to keep in mind: exercising in Thailand, with its tropical heat, is a very different experience than training in an air-conditioned gym. It requires more stamina, but also makes the experience extra challenging and special!

My conclusion: a week is too short!

My conclusion after a week of fitness travel in Thailand is that one week is really too short! However, this was entirely my own choice, because I hesitated to book for two weeks straight away. What was new and extra special for me were the yoga classes. These often took place at the end of the day and provided a perfect end to an active day. Such an experience challenges you to try and discover new things. I also met a lot of great people there with whom I am still in touch to this day.

If I get the chance, I definitely want to go back again! Do you have any questions about my fitness travel in Thailand? Feel free to send me an email!

Because I was so in my element, I completely forgot to take extensive, professional photos of everything on the fitness street in Phuket. That is why you will only find personal photos that I took with my phone in this blog!
