After I set foot on Japanese soil for the first time, my adventure in this unknown country began. Excited for my journey to Japan, I’m prepared to embrace the unknown and the anticipated culture shock with openness.
Flying over the North Pole
After several flights, including a route over the North Pole, I finally landed in Japan. Thanks to Thomas’ instructions, I managed to get through customs smoothly, and my arrival was arranged quickly. My first experience with a Japanese toilet was an adventure; once my suitcases arrived, I embarked on my new life. Finally, after two weeks apart, occupied with our own matters on opposite sides of the globe, we finally reunited.
Reunification in Japan
When we were finally reunited on the other side of the world, it was like meeting each other again. Stepping out of the airport, I was greeted by the Japanese heat, akin to a blanket in the desert’s embrace. In the taxi through Tokyo, towering buildings stretched endlessly, surrounding us with their imposing presence as we navigated the city.

A sea of skyscrapers
Suddenly, I found myself on the balcony of our apartment, on the twenty-second floor, overlooking a sea of skyscrapers as far as the eye could see. This was the first time I was able to see our new home in real life after weeks of seeing it only in photos and videos. While Thomas had done his best to prepare everything during his busy working days, only a feminine touch was missing in our minimalist interior.

On a voyage of discovery
Despite the jet lag, Thomas took me on a discovery tour of our neighborhood, and I admired the beautiful surroundings. Afterwards, we shared a High Ball together, the national drink, and enjoyed delicious sushi in an authentic Izakaya. The start of our adventure in Japan was a mix of wonder and excitement, and I looked forward to the many unforgettable moments that awaited us.
Izakaya: An Izakaya is a restaurant in Japan where Japanese businessmen have a snack and a drink to relax after a hard day’s work.
